Dear Amanda Dumont,

As we approach the upcoming BC election, we have a unique opportunity to make our voices heard and advocate for much-needed changes to the funding caps that are negatively impacting residents across our province.

This is a crucial moment to reach out to candidates in our ridings and secure their support in driving these changes forward. Candidates are listening, and with more voices joining together, we can strengthen our message and create meaningful change.

By reaching out to the candidates in your riding, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our communities.

We have prepared a draft email script that you can use to contact the candidates in your area. Please feel free to personalize it to reflect your own experiences and concerns:

I’m a small business [owner/manager] residing in the [insert here] riding. I'm writing to request a meeting to discuss the current funding of medical equipment in the province of BC and how current funding caps are having a negative impact on BC residents, and will be asking the same of all candidates.

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/governments/policies-for-government/bcea-policy-and-procedure-manual/health-supplements-and-programs/medical-equipment-and-devices

Attached, you’ll find some info on how outdated legislation is leading to decreased health outcomes for those who require the support of medical equipment and leading to increased cost for the Province. While MCFD has recently made great improvements to the funding of children's medical equipment, it is imperative to acknowledge that adults also face funding shortfalls. Swift re-evaluation of equipment funding for BC's adult population is necessary to ensure comprehensive support for all residents. Additionally, immediate amendments to BC’s Employment and Assistance Regulation, Schedule C, Sections 3.4 and 3.8 are crucial to facilitate the provision of the high quality equipment that BC residents deserve. Urgent action is required to address the current funding shortfalls, as they prevent clients from accessing safe and reliable equipment.

Please let me know if you’d like any background info prior to setting a meeting.
