Hi Amanda Dumont,

HMEPA has recently come across some revised funding amounts expectations that dealers working with SDPR should be aware of. There have been no changes to the funding programs, nor the legislated funding caps; however, as recommended by the Ministry’s contracted health professionals (Occupational Therapists), there has been some thought given to the dollar amounts that SDPR would expect a least expensive, appropriate piece of medical equipment to come in at:

  • Back up manual wheelchair $2100

  • Walkers/four wheeled rollators under $600 for basic, over $750 requires OT justification

  • Wheelchair trays for positioning $300, $450 basic custom, $600 complex custom

  • Swing to side arm rests $685

  • Batteries G22’s $630

  • Electric leg bag emptiers around $500

  • Wheelchair seating system $8350

  • Comfy Chair $5000

  • Hospital bed $2500 Invacare and Drive

  • Trost lite $2500

  • Positioning bed $3500

All equipment certainly still requires adequate medical justification, and equipment prescribed by the Occupational Therapist that exceeds these amounts should include in the medical justification why a less expensive option is not medically suitable. The above amounts are recommended by the Ministry’s contracted health professionals (Occupational Therapists).

Regards,

HMEPA
